The role involves managing administrative tasks, preparing legal documents, coordinating schedules, and ensuring the effective handling of cases. Responsibilities include drafting and editing legal documents such as briefs, motions, and discovery requests, organizing discovery materials, and filing documents electronically in NJ, NY, and federal courts. The assistant will also manage attorney calendars, track billable hours, and assist with invoicing using appropriate billing software. Professional client communication and strict confidentiality are essential.
Candidates should have at least five years of experience in a legal assistant role, particularly in litigation. A bachelor’s degree in legal studies, a paralegal certification, or equivalent experience is preferred. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is required, along with familiarity with legal e-filing systems and document management platforms such as NetDocuments or SurePoint. Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills are necessary, along with exceptional accuracy in drafting and proofreading legal documents.
The salary range for this position is $65,000–$85,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
