Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) will lead strategic HR functions across a law firm, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This executive role is based in either the Cleveland or St. Louis office and oversees HR initiatives aligned with the firm's business strategy. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing benefit and compensation structures, HR policies, and talent acquisition frameworks. The CHRO will drive leadership development, succession planning, and change management while promoting a culture of engagement and collaboration across offices. Managing a team of 8-10 HR professionals, the CHRO must ensure compliance with employment laws and stay informed on HR best practices.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in HR Management or a related field, with a preference for an MBA or master’s degree, and possess at least 10 years of HR leadership experience in a law firm or similar setting. Certification such as SPHR or SHRM-SCP is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a strategic mindset, change management expertise, and excellent communication skills for interacting with executive leadership and department heads. Proficiency in organizational development and a consultative approach to employee relations are essential to success in this role.
