Senior Information Governance Specialist I

Our client is seeking a Senior Information Governance (IG) Specialist I to oversee and support various projects related to data protection, lifecycle management, compliance, and secure client file transfers. The role includes leading project teams, issuing preservation and destruction orders, performing audits, analyzing data, and advising attorneys and legal staff on IG policies and risk management practices. Responsibilities include managing data access controls, ensuring compliance with cloud technology, overseeing legacy data disposition, and enhancing firm-wide compliance through education and process improvement.

The position requires maintaining data protection through regular reviews, documenting workflows, providing training, and developing metrics to monitor the program’s progress. The specialist will also handle client file transfers, automate processes, and propose solutions to improve IG procedures. Other duties include managing access requests, reviewing document security, and advising on technology configurations for data governance.

Candidates must have a four-year undergraduate degree and at least three years of experience in risk management, information governance, records management, or IT. Legal experience, particularly with document management systems like iManage, is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of O365 and compliance tools are required. The salary ranges from $100,000 to $140,000 in Los Angeles and up to $150,000 in the Bay Area.
