Patent Foreign Filing Specialist

The Patent Foreign Filing Specialist is responsible for preparing and coordinating PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) and direct national patent filings, managing a docket of ongoing foreign filings, and ensuring high-quality work across the firm. This role involves regular monitoring of the foreign filing docket to meet deadlines, preparing correspondence and legal documents, and communicating with foreign associates and clients. The specialist also manages billing activities, reviews foreign associate bills, prepares client estimates, and monitors the payment of foreign annuities, acting as the liaison with annuity payment service vendors.

Additional responsibilities include preparing and reporting instructions to foreign associates and patent offices, maintaining records in the firm’s document management system, and preparing client status reports. The role requires adherence to firm policies, a billable hour requirement of 1,536 hours per year, and flexibility in working hours to meet deadlines and client needs.

Candidates should have a minimum of three years of patent prosecution experience or two years of foreign filing experience, along with a B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent work experience. The role demands strong organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple projects, effective communication, and proficiency in Word, Excel, and IP-related software.
