Intellectual Property Specialist - Life Sciences

Our client is seeking a well-organized Patent Prosecution Practice Specialist to support IP attorneys, patent agents, and paralegals in the life sciences and healthcare sectors. This role involves managing all aspects of patent prosecution, including research, document preparation and filing, client communication, and record maintenance. The candidate must be knowledgeable about U.S. and foreign patent prosecution rules and procedures, especially in life sciences.

Key responsibilities include formatting and editing legal documents, conducting conflict checks, managing new matters, preparing engagement letters, and ensuring timely case management. The role requires managing Partner timesheets, expense reports, and client bills while maintaining confidentiality. The specialist will coordinate closely with team members to prepare and file correspondence according to firm standards, ensure deadlines are met, and communicate docket updates.

Candidates must have 3-5 years of patent prosecution experience, familiarity with USPTO Patent Center, WIPO ePCT, and sequence listing submissions. The role demands strong technical, organizational, and administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Windows 10, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and Teams is essential. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a bachelor's degree preferred. Overtime availability is necessary.
 

The expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $110,000. The actual base salary offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
