Practice Management Manager (Intellectual Property)

The Practice Management Manager (IP) is primarily responsible for providing support to the attorneys overall career development at the firm. The Practice Manager will play an active role in the development and implementation of key practice group initiatives and play an integral role in the retention and development of the associates.

Job Description:
Talent Development
  • Partner with attorney recruiting teams to develop and deploy a cutting-edge workforce strategy; identify and implement strategic opportunities and best practices to develop the pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Personnel and other Practice Management professionals to oversee the mentorship, development, and promotion of attorneys, including providing feedback, training and coaching aligned with firm and practice-related goals and priorities.
  • Work closely with the firm’s DEI Committees to create an inclusive and connected environment that positively impacts diverse professionals in the firm through effective leadership, engagement, visibility, programming, and oversight.
Workload Management
  • Support partners and associates navigating the free-market workflow system and work with other members of the practice management team and assist with identifying opportunities.  
  • Evaluate practice group needs on an ongoing basis, identify gaps in associate resources and support recruiting team efforts.
  • Collaborate with practice group leaders to further the firm’s and practice groups’ DEI goals through work allocation and opportunities.
  • Work with partners and Legal Training teams to plan and conduct formal training programs for attorneys.
  • Work with the Legal Personnel team to support the evaluation and associate development process.
Strategic Support
  • Work closely with the Director of IP and Regulatory, Practice Area Leads and other partners to achieve strategic goals including, developing and implement process, developing content for meetings, and other general areas of support as it relates to the functioning of the practice areas and practice group.
Practice Management
  • Work with the Practice Management team on providing operational and administrative support for firmwide initiatives and strategic projects.

  • Skilled at having candid conversations in a diplomatic and professional manner, with focus on building support and understanding.
  • Strong data analytics skills to assess a range of metrics and presents data in an effective manner for senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Ability to provide quality and efficient client service to both internal and external clients.
  • Ability to be hands-on and work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and utilize additional software. 

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of practice management experience or intellectual property management experience.  Must have experience in leading high-functioning teams and working with senior management professionals to make a demonstrated impact on talent development. Bachelor’s degree required, JD, MBA or other advanced degrees are a plus.




Benefits and Compensation Details:
The firm provides benefits to eligible employees under plans such as Healthcare, Life Insurance, Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, and Wellbeing.

The anticipated range for this position is:
$142,000 - $188,500

Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance.  Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
